Preventing Bobtail Rollovers

Propane-carrying bobtail trucks serve customers across the country, in big cities, small towns, and rural areas. While virtually all bobtail deliveries are safe and efficient, on rare occasions a bobtail will roll over, damaging the truck and posing a danger to the driver.
Drivers can reduce bobtail rollovers with preparation and by taking care every time they get behind the wheel.
The Propane Education & Research Council has prepared for drivers a safety program that helps in understanding the factors that contribute to a rollover. It also provides guidelines and tips on what a driver can do to minimize the risk of a rollover.
This PERC training material includes a DVD with a 22-minute video that can be viewed for free online.
To purchase the DVD with the video, and a CD that contains a booklet on understanding and preventing bobtail rollovers, a quiz with an answer key, and a certificate of employee completion visit the Propane MaRC, or call 866-905-1075.
PERC believes that bobtail drivers are the backbone of the propane industry and that their safety is paramount. To read a story about a day in the life of a bobtail driver from PERC President and CEO Roy Willis go to his blog Beyond the Backyard.
